Universe Don't Care

Watching a documentary on YouTube about Canadian fighter pilot training.

There's a trainee who's dreamed since he was a child about being a fighter pilot.

They've got a test where you have to do 6-G for 15 seconds without passing out.

You get three chances to pass... he failed all three.

He's got something in his physiology that won't let him endure high G, so he's not going to be a fighter pilot.

It's something you need to be able to do if you're in a dogfight, and the universe don't care about your hopes and dreams if you're physically unable to perform the task at hand.

I think we're going to end up with a similar test for Infantrymenpeople some day.  There's going to be a lot of hurt feelings, but the universe don't care.

  1. Unfortunately that test is sometimes called warfare and the failing grade is death.

No hurt feelings for the failures though.
