Shockingly Hard To Find

An arched mainspring housing for a 1911, in blue, with a lanyard ring; ribbed, not checkered.

I suspect that since these were removed from lots of guns, there's an ample, but widely dispersed supply in parts bins across the country.

  1. Probably around the world, in fact.

I now that I have one somewhere around here - in Oz - taken from an ex-US Army pistol that I converted into a race gun.

    1. Kind of makes me curious about having you post it to me if you find it.

The "it's a gun part!" laws are stupid.

In all likelihood, putting it in a box and paying the postage would never cause a problem.

  2. Does two out of three work? Pretty sure I have still have the OE arched mainspring housing from my Gov't model around here and seem to recall it being ribbed, not checkered.

    1. I've managed to find an arched-ribbed mainspring housing in "blue" in the form of a plastic Colt part.

I want the lanyard ring too. My blued 1911 is a bbq gun and the lanyard ring makes a handy bottle opener!
