Even then, although those actions were based on the older 1893 style Mauser actions and not as strong as the 1898 Mauser, the original rifles were designed for 7x57mm Mauser, which is similarly powered to .308 Win enough that I'd suspect most FR7/FR8 rifles to have no trouble with commercial .308 Win ammo. Would I handload to the max of load data for any of these? No, but that's a whole totally different story anyway.

About the only thing I could thing of that I'd really worry about would be an early model CETME 58 rifle (A or B variant). It is unlikely to run into one of these because I don't think they were ever imported to the US, were probably selective fire anyway. The CETME rifles normally encountered in the US were usually built from parts kits and I would guess the critical pieces were most likely upgraded to H&K style parts which should be safe with .308 Win. Anyway, parts kits guns are always a little Caveat Emptor.
SofwareJanitorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10511295863793065111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1406088964942152547.post-15763544155847836172021-02-27T00:16:33.068-05:002021-02-27T00:16:33.068-05:00I've talked about it before: https://mcthag.bl...I've talked about it before: https://mcthag.blogspot.com/2014/08/disservice.htmlAngus McThaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09295013525738248801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1406088964942152547.post-36128724342744847632021-02-26T23:57:48.564-05:002021-02-26T23:57:48.564-05:00Your Ishapore 2A or 2A1 is perfectly safe with 7.6...Your Ishapore 2A or 2A1 is perfectly safe with 7.62x51mm NATO. It is also safe with .308 Winchester.

Now you are sure.

The differences between the two are really because of the differences in units of measure not a meaningful difference in chamber pressure.
