The notion that black people need special programs to help them get ahead is demonstrably wrong.
Professional sports is almost entirely a meritocracy for the players, and black people seem to do quite well for themselves there. In fact with a level playing field [pun] they also tend to dominate some sports.
I'll betcha that if we removed the skew from other places they would not only survive, but thrive.
Warning, it's a sucker bet because they were starting to thrive as the implications of the Eisenhower efforts towards civil rights were being felt and it all came crashing down as the Great Society of LBJ began to assert itself.
