I’m still stunned. It’s hard to overstate how big this is.
The last time a (D) was such an obviously wrong choice that even the RRP couldn’t hold their collective (heh) nose and endorse him was George McGovern.
For at least thirty years (probably longer, but that’s when I first noticed them doing this) they have a big poll of people in Iowa, asking (among many other things, of course) whether they support “stricter” gun control; every year they get a majority, and every year somebody writes in to point out that they didn’t define “stricter” so we don’t know if the respondents just want restrictions we already have. Nobody makes the same dumb mistake thirty years in a row, getting corrected every time, if it really is a mistake.
What’s next, shutting down some everything-is-the-Jews’-fault rant by opening Mein Kampf to the part where it says “Don’t use this stupid argument; the Jews aren’t that bad, and you'll look like an idiot”?

Do not go off on a tangent, stay with the topic of the post. If I can't tell what your point is in the first couple of sentences I'm flushing it.

I did a full on spittake when I saw the story.

I saw that today, and after they took me off the defibrillator (damn cardiac arrests!) I asked: "Isn't this one of the Biblical signs of Armageddon?"
