Once upon a time, I had my 1903 Pocket Hammerless refinished in a rich dark blue.
That makes the original plastic grips look as beat up as they are.
I've become obsessed with getting a set of ivory stocks for it.
I've also become appalled at the prices on the rare occasion that I've found a pair.
Just this evening I've discovered bonded ivory. It's a lot cheaper.
What says the hive?
No experience with either ivory or bonded ivory. A little reading indicates that most folks see it as a good alternative to ivory while a select few jackasses want to make fun of the guy for even asking a question about what people think of it.
ReplyDeleteI don't see a thing wrong with it and think it would look damn good on a blued firearm. Course that would fit my preference anyway. Light colored wood on dark guns and dark wood on light colored guns.
Just let us see what it looks like when you are done. You looking at the offerings from Boone Trading?
As a matter of fact, yes, Boone Trading.
ReplyDeleteIf the gun is refinished, then no points are deducted for bonded ivory. So mote it be!
