Derpy Approved
I am uncertain if Derpyhooves is a male or female; but The Boy calls Derp "him" so let's not pop his bubble if it's wrong.
When I asked The Boy where my ribbon should go, he suggested to pin it on Derpy because "Him know what it like!"

Do not go off on a tangent, stay with the topic of the post. If I can't tell what your point is in the first couple of sentences I'm flushing it.

FWIW, Derpy’s original voice actor agrees with The Boy on that point. Somehow, that is one of the things that offended a pack of whiners, leading to the Derpygate affair. No, I can’t explain how somebody could be offended by the fact that a cartoon horse might be a stallion; I merely note that it did in fact happen.
ReplyDeleteDerpy is a girl. You can tell by the muzzle shape; boys' are squared off and girls' are rounded.
ReplyDeleteThat said, the voice actress who originally voiced Derpy was unclear on this as well, and patterned the voice after a klutzy teenage boy she knew. Don't worry, I won't tell The Boy.
Fuzzy: Derpygate was the result of lots of butthurt SJWs (but I repeat myself) who took the asinine position that the writers were "mocking the retarded".
I think that it's telling that "the retarded", such as the boy, LOVE Derpy!
DeleteSome in fandom think Derpy is retarded, others just think she's klutzy (possibly due to her eye problem).
DeleteEither way, I see her as a role model for the handicapped: she is loved by 99% of the fans; none of the ponies treat her badly; she is included in pony activities; and while her mishaps are comedic (and therefore laughed at) she is not, herself, mocked.
My opinion is that silencing her/un-derping her eyes/ removing her from canon was FAR more exclusionary and whitewashing. Good to see Hasbro reverse its stance once the rage of the SJWs died down (although I doubt she'll ever speak again).
