There's reams on why you don't need to in several places (some even specific to the Eagle). For the most part, in space there's just nothing you need a window for.
And they did damn good considering it's now a 40 year old design.
I remember thinking that that was one of the first SF spaceships I'd seen on-screen that looked like it was designed to work solely in a vacuum environment. In space there's no need for streamlining.
