Why Bubba Why

Today I saw a Remington M1915 Mosin-Nagant.  Numbers matching.

Butchered by bubba.

Bolt handled stretched and turned down.

Stock was dovetailed so that a comb and pistol grip could be added, with the cut bisecting the US acceptance cartouche.

Barrel cut down and a new front sight applied.

Forearm cut down too.

It appears to have been pristine before the modifications were applied.

    Bubba generally doesn't do that. How old did the work look? (I have a soft spot for nicely-done sporters from the interwar and early postwar years.)

    Hard to tell how old the work is, the gun was definitely well cared for, there's much original bluing on it. It's definitely an example of a skilled smith. Everything is meticulously done.

    While I wail in despair, those things were tomato stakes at one time and nobody would have any clue they'd have any potential to become valuable in their original configuration.

    They only want $200 for it, Deer Hunter Guns in Clearwater if you want to give them call!
