Marv got a Rise RA-140 Super Sporting drop in trigger.
We dropped it into FuzzyGeff's Olga and gave it a test run dry-fire.
It's a crisp break, no movement until it goes.
Compared to the La Rue MBT-2S which has a near effortless take-up then a light crisp break, the Rise feels heavier.
I think I prefer the feel of the Rise, but not enough to throw away the LaRue.
The downside is the Rise slaps the finger on reset. That bugs me on AKs to the point of not owning one.
I picked up 3 of those Rise RA-140 SST triggers when Fat Boy Tactical had them on sale for $99. The only bad thing about them is they don't include the KNS anti-walk, anti-rotate pins that come with most other drop in triggers (and are recommended by Rise for this trigger). On the other hand, a lot of people tell me those are pretty much snake oil anyway and that they have no advantage over plain old pins. I did find some fairly reasonably priced clones of the KNS pins though so that's what I'm going with. The reason I wanted drop-in triggers is for use in ar15mold poured polymer lowers, as people who are familiar with poly lowers tell me that the drop in triggers are far less likely to have problems with egg-shaping the hammer and trigger pin holes if you use one. I'm not as worried about the poly lowers I will use on low power cartridges (.22LR, 5.7x28 FN and possibly 9x19 Parabellum), but at least two or three of the poly lowers I plan to use will most likely be with .223 Rem/5.56x45 NATO uppers.
ReplyDeleteFWIW, I checked and Fat Boy Tactical has those triggers on sale for $99 with free shipping again right now. I don't know how much longer they will be on sale before they go back to the regualar price which I think is $122 and I am not sure if they have free shipping then either.
