Long Magazine
The PMAG-40 is one long magazine.
Round per round, the 40 is lighter than the 30, but it has the same problems as the MP.44 had with regards to the magazine hitting the ground before the rifle is down far enough to use prone.
More for contractors riding around in unarmored SUVs would be my assumed application, especially if there's no RPK with a drum around. Or tape two together for contact breaker applications, especially at night, when a little upright running to cover might reasonably be expected.
I've always liked having one crap magazine for leftover rounds from 20-round boxes, pulling a couple of rounds from a mag to put counter tracers [You're almost out! You're REALLY almost out!] in. But 40 seems a bit much.
