Asking For It
To change the transmission fluid on a C6 Corvette with a TR-6060 6-speed manual, the car must be level.
Got the front on ramps and the rear on jack-stands with the jack still holding some weight too.
There's some who say that wood cannot support the weight of a car. The design of my ramps comes from a 1950's Popular Mechanics article... Notice that the inclined part can be moved out of the way?

ReplyDeleteI am not sure about that Royal Purple stuff, but the mineral hypoid gear oil that I put in the differential STINKS.
So much so that the clothing that I was wearing needed two washes to mitigate the smell.
Synchromax is like normal ATF in smell, with an added hint of brimstone.

ReplyDeleteI was servicing an 80's Porsche 928. No synthetics for that thing, it really prefers lubricants from that era, so it gets mineral oils of viscosity that would have modern cars choking. :)
Have 3 bottles Royal Purple on the shelf (with this cute transparent pump that came with) for the manual trans on the VW Jetta. Been putting it off but at 200,000 miles it is time .
