Perhaps Priced Appropriately

The CMP M1911A1's might be priced well below market.

Hit gunbroker and find an Ex-USGI M1911A1 for less than $1,000.

Now, would you fire that gun without doing some repairs?

I remember balking at the prices for what you got when CMP made their first tentative pricing announcement.

Turns out that a nice M1911A1 made by Remington-Rand is a $2,500-$3,000 gun.

A franken gun with the frame made by one maker and the slide another will be $1,500-$2,000 depending on the level and skill of the refurbishment and refinishing.  This gun, sadly, is what will be representative of what CMP likely has.

I think I will be happy with my Springfield Armory clone.

Of note:  Remington Rand made more M1911A1's than anyone else.  This is the most common maker and the M1911A1 is the most numerous model.

Also note: there will be no surprise hidden gems coming out of CMP's 1911 lottery.  They've reserved an auction price level for those.  Buyer be aware.

    Glad I bought my Remington Rand when I did... I've got considerably less than $1000 into it... :-)

    I'm not a fan of 1911's - I don't hit what I'm aiming for and it doesn't feel right. if I want a low capacity 45, I'll use my Hi-Point; higher capacity, I'll use my Glock 21.
