Rodney King!

It's been 27 years since the King verdict and the start of the riots.

I recall keeping my Mini-14 and a lot of 30-rounders close to hand even in provincial West Des Moines.

    I remember being at TPU Long Beach Naval Station in morning muster one day and looking north and seeing the smoke columns coming up.

    My brother said that the King riots, and the reactions to the OJ verdict, soured a lot of his co-workers on blacks in general.
