Impromptu salvage yard pops up in suburban UK.
My first thought was a tragedy of the commons, but they mention that the land is privately held.
Stuff like this has come up in Florida from time to time.
People buy a house on the landward side of a road that can see The Gulf across the road and an empty lot.
The owner of the lot decides to develop their property and the people in the house sue them for ruining their view.
And lose.
Judge after judge has ruled that if they wanted to keep that view, they should have bought the property and kept it vacant.
Don't want the owner of the "green space" your houses surround to be turned into a junkyard?
Buy that fucker and make it into what you want it to be.
It will be interesting to see how a UK judge would rule. A precedent from here might predispose them to rule the other way.
