One less flying B-17 in the world.
Seven fewer people to enjoy them.
On one hand, they were made to fly.
On the other, every flight has a chance of a catastrophe.
Eventually, if you keep flying them, the odds catch up.
I am torn, but part of me thinks that, despite the deaths, that this is a better (and more fitting end) than to end up as sculpture.
Looked for the name, as I had flown in the "Fuddy-Duddy" a long time ago. Never saw it. Grieved to see another WW2 bird burn. It had come back from a crash 32 years ago, but who knows if it will this time and what percentage original structure will remain?
