I've seen in a couple of comment threads discussing the likelihood of the law actually being enforced in Virginia where the local law enforcement and National Guard members are the exact same people the law will have to be enforced against.
They're not going to trust this "important" work to the locals.
Lemme back up.
The first hurdle is actually these local boys actually refusing the order to begin the confiscations and arrest people.
Historically the cops and military simply follow their orders to violate the rights of the citizens they swore to protect.
If they seem recalcitrant, there will be a meeting that assures them that they're safe from the enforcement of these laws if they just enforce them on everyone else. This, by the way, is why gun-control is normally backed by police unions and professional organizations: a carve out for the thin-blue-only-ones is always made.
Once it is made clear that they are unaffected by the new tyranny, they tend to be more eager to impose it on others.
Happily, that doesn't seem to be happening this time.
Which brings us to the, "Governor, they're not enforcing the law, just like they said they would," moment.
The cops refuse to arrest each other. The Guard units reported to their armories and are sitting on their hands.
Now what?
History has this moment recorded too.
Police and military from someplace else will be brought in.
The California Highway Patrol was instrumental in seizing weapons from survivors of Katrina in New Orleans. Seizures which included arrests and shooting resisting citizens who only wanted to defend their own homes.
It was bad enough that Florida even passed laws making it perfectly legal to remain armed on your own property after such a storm, and even during an evacuation order.
The imported law enforcement will not be friends and neighbors with the people they are sent to arrest.
The question becomes, "What happens next?"
New Orleans did have a few holdouts that refused to comply and got killed for their insistence on their rights. But the holdouts were sparse and separated from each other without any communication infrastructure to share their concerns.
Virginians, the time to move will be when out of state law enforcement is called, not when they arrive.
I think, with only 3 counties not jumping on the 2A Sanctuary bandwagon, and a mere handful of wishy-washy other counties, only the most clueless politician would not see what the majority (area-wise) of the state truly wants.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we're talking radical leftist dem politicians. So, yeah, expect the New York or Massachusetts police to be brought in, which will flip the wishy-washies to sanctuary in a heartbeat, not to mention draw every redneck idiot into Virginia as if it was the start of a second Civil War.
Which, well, it will be if it goes statewide, rather than just being concentrated in a single city. If the Dems are smart, they'll just concentrate on individual areas during disasters. The only reason that the evils of Katrina didn't make more noise than they did was the firm control over media that Ray and the Governor had on them. But today? If the internet is on, or phone signals can get out, it will be too difficult, but not impossible, just really really difficult for the oppressors to silence the message. Hopefully.
As to all the rah-rahing on the 2A supporters... Well... It doesn't matter unless they're actually going to resist. And resist big if necessary. Like the two rancher standoffs. Must hold strong. Must be willing to die to get the message out. And must be willing to let the enemy fire a mass of first shots before any return fire occurs. That's the key thing. The resistors must be willing to accept a small slaughter before they resist, otherwise the media and the government will try to spin it as 'good state guys fighting a bad man/woman.' Resistors must wait until the government has put it's head fully in the noose, with many streaming videos and phones going, before the hammer falls. Which will suck. Suck so bad it may break the state, may break the nation. Would hate to have the President nationalize the Virginia Nat Guard, or other scenario.
Bad times are coming. Seems that way at least.
first, "military". yep, the army followed orders to shoot citizens. the guard is not the army in the respect that they are from here, live here, their families live here. not so likely to follow orders from on high in that instance. even the army has learned a thing or two since kent state and lt. kali...if tptb try to bring in outsiders, it'll be a bloodbath. but it will be the "redneck idiots" we call patriots doing the killing, likely aided by mass defection of the guard. i find myself in the unusual spot of being the moderate voice in the crowd, but even i don't put up with threats, nor invaders. this govna is asking for a hanging in a big way and if he does put on the breaks quickly, he'll get it. I've lived here most of my life and I've never seen anything even remotely like this. i fear its too late to halt this train now.
