My congressional district has a challenger for the longtime seat of Gus Bilirakis.
Her claims to deserve our vote is that she's a veteran and he's been occupying the seat for 30 years.
While these things are both true...
Ms Walker includes a photo from her time in service.
Proudly displayed on her dress uniform is the tooty-fruity and a rifle sharpshooter badge. Adjutant General branch, 56th Field Arty with Pershing tab.
Her bio on her webpage says she served eight years on active duty.
If I was touting my military service as a qualifier for office, I'd have my LAST picture with ALL my awards and my HIGHEST rank attained.
I wouldn't put up my mid-career PFC pics without even an ARCOM.
Looking at this, and reading her bio...
Her last billet was Florida Air National Guard. Why not post a pic from then? She's bragging about her service and mentions the FANG, so she's not ashamed of it. Why not show that pic?
She's failed the, "you must be this tall to..." bar for me.
PS: That's PFC Hodges in that pic, not PFC Walker. She should probably mention a name change in her bio or people will go "Stolen valor!" when the Adderall kicks in.
I was just thinking about something similar. If I were to run for any sort of office, my last picture of record for OSB would be quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteI've seen more fruit salad on a 4-year office worker's uniform.
ReplyDeleteYeah...
So exactly what are her qualifications besides she's been an enlisted nothing? (going by her picture in uniform.)
So.. of too her website.
We find out that she is, well, she believes everything in the standard Dem candidate package. Hmmm. nothing really weird here... let's see. 8 years Army, no comment about her end-rank, that's weird as heck, she should have at least said she was X rank (unless she didn't get promoted much past PFC. Which is even weirder as she should have at least made Corporal or some specialist rank, right? Hmmm.
Correction officer, couldn't hack it, left.
Joined FANG, again, no rank. Why FANG and not FNG? And, again, what rank? (My nephew has climbed slowly but steadily in FNG and they're looking to mustang his butt as he is that good.) So, missy, what's your rank? And no foreign deployment record. Just a CONUS weenie. (My nephew, since joining the FNG, has been deployed every year to overseas locations, from Trashcanistan to Puerto Rico (he said Trashcanistan was easier than PR, as at least you could shoot the hostiles...)
Went to work as an it weenie...
She's married. And has kids.
Nothing really screams 'Vote for me.'
I've read more exciting bios in the obituaries.
Still, pushes military service but doesn't tell us what rank she obtained, what awards she had, what she did. (and, no, she doesn't look like some super-secret soldier, no jump wings, no tower of power no nothing.)
It's like they found the least objectionable person that fit parameters and said "Let's run her!"
56 Field Arty with Pershings is a Germany posting. She also claims Korea on her webpage with Texas, South Carolina, Georgia and Kentucky for CONUS.
DeleteSix duty stations in 8 years? In combat arms that'd be a problem child. Unless she's padding it with her basic and AIT postings. That'd explain South Carolina.
Hey Angus;
ReplyDeleteSomething smells.....Normally I would love to vote for a Veteran, more the merrier....but something gives me pause...she kinda reminds me of those lower enlisted that barely skated by on her gender and race and didn't do anything of note, and I wonder what the backstory is. I would hesitate before pulling the lever for her.
How old is she? They got rid of the Pershings in 1988 while I was at the JSTPS (targeting ICBMs/SLBMs). My roommate was in GLCM targeting and got reassigned when that happened. Walker doesn't look old enough to have been in the service in 1988, but her bio does say her "wife" has been a teacher for 26 years.
