This will be my father in law's mailbox in a couple of days. We have to paint the post and find a time when he's not around to sink the excess height of the post in the ground; for to make it a surprise for his birthday.

Do not go off on a tangent, stay with the topic of the post. If I can't tell what your point is in the first couple of sentences I'm flushing it.

I'm a believer in sinking supports deep, especially in the reclaimed bayou that I live on but that's a helluva pile. You have a bat issue there?
ReplyDeleteI think we're going to lose a couple of feet before we sink it. We bought an 8' post and originally planned a 3' horizontal section. The fish didn't need that much, so the post is longer than planned.
DeleteThat ought to be a fun surprise for him.
ReplyDeleteHave friend that's had two of those, both were stolen - they're not cheap. After the last one was stolen he put up just a standard mail rural mail box.
ReplyDeleteStolen at night, took time to remove hardware - left post.
Hopefully, we won't have that. I can grind the heads down on the hardware to prevent it though.
