Propane was $3.75 a gallon from the U-Haul I mentioned above.
The places I used to go to get it filled all either quit with propane altogether or changed to AmeriGas or Blue Rhino tank exchange. Home Depot is AmeriGas.
Here in West Oz, some government watchdog stepped in to demand a recall of some propane tanks sold by one of the exchange places, BECAUSE THE TANKS WERE OVER-FILLED.
The claim was that the tanks created a danger because they are all fitted with pressure relief valves which might cause the release of some of the contents when in use if the tank contains too much liquid (pressurised) propane.
Apparently, the bureaucrats believe that customers getting what they paid for shouldn't be allowed.
AmeriGas and Blue Rhino control most of the propane tank exchange locations around here too. There's one other one I forget. And no, sadly it isn't Strickland. Or even Thatherton. -swj I tell you what
We get our tank filled at tractor Supply ($2.99) or Loves (at $WTF) when TS and our local propane supplier is closed. TS is closer to the house and our propane tank supplier is another ten miles away.

I take my tanks for filling to the local plumbing supply house. And I watch while being filled. $3.11/gal

ASKED A MAJOR DISTRIBUTOR HOW THEY CAN MAKE ANY MONEY AT BARGAIN BASEMENT PRICES. "We ONLY FILL THE TANKS 2/3-3/4THS FULL." That was 20 years ago...
ReplyDeleteFortunately I am equidistant from two gas stations with propane tanks, I will know the price soon
