I Will Concede

I will concede that the United States stole all of the lands formerly owned by the American Indian...

If...

IF...

IF!

If the people accusing the US of the theft concede that it's a fait accompli and the US now owns the land by right of conquest.

That right of conquest, by the way, is why you acquire a big military and glare across your borders at the neighbors.

It's also why you take great pains to intertwine your economy with the neighbors so that conquering them is more harmful to your interests than helpful.

But, if you lose the war, you've LOST the war.

The losers don't get to dictate the terms.

  1. Actually, Manhattan Island was paid for at the time, IIRC, right?

And, as you know, the "Indians" didn't own anything either.
They found it first, but they were foreign immigrants from another continent too, and spent several millennia afterwards stealing it from each other and enslaving and/or exterminating the losers, ad infinitum.

Their only claim to ownership was possession via conquest, and which they sucked at compared to later settlers.
    Boo frickin' hoo.
Which is why there are no "indigenous peoples", and right by possession is all that matters.

It also means so-called natives trying to use Western property law against European settlers and their descendants is pure cultural appropriation. I feel offended by their culturally insensitive attempt, which is akin to putting on blackface: j'accuse!. For that matter, so was their use of horses.

Thus their only recourse is to either conquer it back - on foot - all on their own, or suck their thumbs and lump it.

By the same token, anyone claiming a right to "reparations" for slavery should be handed a one-way ticket back to Africa, and a simultaneous and permanent revocation of American citizenship, both absolutely free of charge, as payment in full for imaginary harm done by no one living, to no one living.

Neither group will accept such inarguable cosmic justice, proving that at root, their efforts, in both cases, are simply a hustle perpetrated on the mentally weak and/or gullible.

It's time to call those bluffs.

  2. We did not steal it all from the natives.

We stole plenty from the British, Spanish, French and Mexicans.
