Things I Learned Today

Australia has alps.

I learned this because a trivia list about Australia mentioned that the Australian Alps get more snow than the Swiss Alps.

The image that we get of Australia here in the USA is not a place that has green growing things or snow.

I blame Hollyweird.

  1. I blame the individual. Whether Australia has alps, or they get more snow than Austria, is something an individual can check for himself.

Relying on another person, an association action of people, or, especially an industry based on creating fantasy, is idiotic. We each have the means to regulate ignorance. I know, it's like with one weird trick. How very strange. Weird, huh?

    1. Yeah, I, individually, didn't give two shits if Australia had mountains at all. I'll cop to that.

I did know it had snow and green places. I know quite a few Australians, actually. Even had a humorous moment when the temperature here in F in the winter was the same as the temperature there in C in the summer. It was kinda chilly here and brutally hot there.

  2. Either that or a Dumb and Dumber typo...

  3. It probably also has a lot to do with 90+% of the country being a vast uninhabited desert, and 95% of the people there living near the coast, and nowhere near the mountains.

But the Sydney Opera House is no more Australia than the Statue of Liberty is America.
