The news is full of a memorandum of understanding towards a formal end of hostilities between The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America.
Excellent!
Hopefully Iran means it this time and we can stop blowing them up.
I've said before that I would be far happier if our nations were friends.
I hope it's possible.
I doubt it will be as long as even a thread of the leadership from before we started dropping bombs is still in charge of the place.
It would seem that the Israeli's don't want peace, every time we get close they screw i up for us. Netanyahu is not our ally.
ReplyDeleteThe US and Israel have a lot of common interest, but we also, each, have our own interests.
DeleteIt's fucking stupid to ask each other to ignore our own interests.
Even allies get this wrong, but I think you're right in that Netanyahu isn't thinking of our interests at all. Especially since, if Iran abides by what Trump is demanding, the Lebanon thing should sort itself out in a manner that Israel should be happy with.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told President Trump that Israeli forces will not withdraw from Lebanon and that Israel does not consider itself bound by the Lebanon clause in the US-Iran MoU, according to Maariv.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Israelis are paying their own way in the world, and are off the US teat for good, they can do as they please. Until then...
DeleteI've talked with Americans who've been to Iran. They report that the Iranian in the street doesn't hate Americans. If they hate anything about us, it's our government. Considering how I feel about the US government, am I in a position to blame them?
