My favorite local brewery does a customer appreciation day over Labor Day weekend every year.
They grill burgers and hot dogs and give them out for free.
Something that stands out is how many new faces I see there.
The customers bring their extended families for free grub...
But they're not the worst. You can make the case that they appreciate the family letting their customer come to the brewery.
The worst are the people, families in tow, who have never patronized the place.
It ticks me off.
I like the owners of the brewery and I don't like seeing these people take advantage of them.
Consider looking at it in a different way. The new people showing up might become patrons in the future. Most won't, but that's not different than any other kind of advertising. The hardest thing to do is to get people to try your product or establishment, amongst a sea of competitors. Them walking through the door is kind of a win, even if you did have to cook them a hot dog or burger.

That's a good point!
DeleteI will try to see if any of the new faces appear in the future.
The most expensive customer is the one that just walked in, never been there before. If he comes back, you don't have the marketing cost if he becomes a regular or semi-regular.
