Kahr comes DAMN close. The TP45 is damn near identical to my S&W1911Sc. Its a hair smaller, and a hair wider.
Their 9x19 offerings are 1911 slim.
Why is your P232 such a porker? I know my PM45 is fatter than my 1911 because they went with the cheaper, and easier to manufacture (and SIG invented) fat-daddy locking lug on the chamber hood, vs. the twin locking lugs inside the slide.

I carry a 1911 in a shoulder holster. Its derived from it being a comfortable means of carry and goes well with my dress code.
ReplyDeleteAlso I dunno about you but a thick gun in a shoulder rig tends to press into my ribs, the ultra-thin profile of the 1911 serves very well IMHO.
I've often felt that if someone were to make a polymer gun with the same width as a 1911 they'd sell like hotcakes.
ReplyDeleteBut considering that a SIG P232 is a single stack .380 that's wider than a 1911 I doubt the manufacturers will ever catch on that there's a market.
