There's a good dog up in doggy heaven now.
It was harder than I hoped, but easier than I feared to say goodbye that last time.
The urge to scream, "NO! STOP!" before the meds were administered was almost overpowering.
But I owed my friend this release from his torment.
Honoring the contract signed when we took him into our home.
A pet is a lifetime commitment.
Sadly, their lifetime more often than not.
Well damn. I always hope that at Fiddler's Green our departed dogs, cats, and horses will be there as well for one last hunt, scritch, or ride. Sorry buddy
ReplyDeleteCondolences McThag, it's tough to let them go.
ReplyDeleteI feel a little silly. I stayed behind once Harvey and The Boy had left and I arranged his ears and set him like he would sleep. I wanted him to be comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThat was IMPORTANT.
We're getting ashes back in about a week.
Condolences, McThag. Words do nothing at this time, but I feel your pain. It's palpable.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it. I know how much it can hurt to lose a furry family member.
