The recent, brief, power outage has convinced me that consumer level uninterruptible power sources do not need to beep to inform me that they have lost mains power.
A beep or alarm to warn me that they're about to go dead would be fine, but an alert that the power is out in a home is superfluous.
Power out in a home is VERY noticeable!
But thanks, UPS, for beeping! I totally missed the lights going out, the fan shutting off and the TV going blank.
The beeps are the real hero!
I guess it's kinda like the Silverado and it's windshield washer level.
ReplyDeleteOn my oil change alert, it goes off when I start the truck and doesn't bother after I acknowledge it.
The W/s washer goes off about every five minutes........ until I unplugged it.
To be fair, a beeping UPS can alert people who are asleep there's a power outage. This information may be of value.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't home the night the power was down for two hours. The next day, I was rather grumpily informed by my roomie that "The thing in your room beeping kept me awake so I turned it off". I asked "Oh, the power was off?" Reply was "I dunno. I didn't notice". And he votes.
