Oh Well

This morning, about 0137, the power went out.

Right in the middle of an Anime I was watching too!

The text from the power company predicted restoration at 0345, so I grabbed my Ryobi flexi light, burrowed under the covers and read a book.

Two hours without power in a hurricane ready house?

Bitch, please!

Marv was a little more adventurous and he wandered out into the cold.  He discovered that Steak N Shake is no longer a 24/7 concern.  He also found the power company's trucks around a sub-station nearby.

We're speculating it was planned maintenance.

By the way, the power company lied.  Power was restored at 0245.

    Last time mine went out, in 2020, it was a bird who had fallen foul of the power lines. I was right there when it happened, and the BANG startled me. I looked up, and saw a flash of light and heard another BANG and saw feathers flying.

    After running a generator for a week, my uncle saw a Power Company truck out front.
    Unc: Hey! When will I get power?
    PC Guy: Whatta ya mean? We restored power here five days ago. We just stopped cuz a door came unlatched. (Looks up at transformer) There's yer problem: a fried squirrel. Power'll be back on in ten minutes.

    Me: HAHAHA!
