This Is Something My Gen 2 Can't Do
Lacking any sort of rail under the dust cover means that neither Gen 2 Glocks in the house can mount a light.
Light is a handy thing in the dark.
I will, of course, give away my position when I turn it on, but that will have been given away by the flashlight I was using to look around with already.
That little Surefire X300 sure has been moved from gun to gun too. The M&P 9 can mount it, but I hear that mounting a light to your CCW is a bad idea. I'm erring on the side of caution with the Smith carried in my Miami Classic during the winter months.

Yeah, that's why I'm considering trading my Gen 1 for a something Gen 3 or newer? The thing about my gen 1, is that it's one of the oldest UN imports ever. First Deployed to Belgium, if I'm correct. Kind of a collectors Item, if not a bit worn on the outside. It was a gift to me from twenty five years ago. No papers.
ReplyDeleteWho told you mounting a light to your CCW was a bad idea?
ReplyDeleteIt's all about what you want and what you train with.
And if your holster will work well. Can you draw your lighted weapon easily? Or does the light cause issues?
Next thing you'll tell me I can't fit a grenade launcher or a bayonet on my CCW...
I read it on the internet, it must be true!
DeleteAnyway, it doesn't fit in the holster with the light and Galco steadfastly refuses to make a Miami Classic holster for my gun with the X300.
The advice to not mount a light on a carry gun is in the same vein as not using handloads or having a custom trigger... Wait... I have a custom trigger on the M&P!
My custom trigger is a safety feature. It doesn't make me a more effective killer, it prevents misses. Rounds that miss are a hazard to innocents beyond the theoretical assailant.
You'll probably need to get a custom holster made, which is what all the gun-bloggers say...
