And looking at that animation I now understand why those series of tanks cook off so very easily.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the manual loading system of the M1, with the really big slamming ammo storage door, is a superior system after all.
That ammo storage is only part o the problem. The other issue is that additional ammo is stored all over the tank so that nearly any penetration on a fully loaded tank will hit something energetic. Extra rounds are even stored in special depressions in the fuel tanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat is neat is that the ramrod is a special chain that can push and flex, so they don't to use the space a solid ramrod would take.
