You can't have an epidemic unless the condition is contagious.
Opioids aren't contagious, so not an epidemic.
Obesity is not contagious, so not an epidemic.
I think someone has forgotten that endemic and epidemic are not synonymous.

I'm glad that someone else besides me objects to calling addiction an epidemic. Epidemics have pathogens and vectors. Then again maybe opioid addiction is an epidemic. The pathogen is opioids and the vector is the dealer. Eliminate the vector and the pathogen can't be spread. Maybe Duterte has the right idea. Kill the vector and stop the disease...................
