If you're following along on the Dissipator Dottie adventures and want to participate, PSA has the uppers (sans bolt-carrier-group and charging handle) for $219.99 in Black, OD and FDE.
I've been very pleased with mine so far.

I have one of the PSA faux-dissipator uppers (and it's all your fault). I like it quite a bit. I put it on a KE plastic lower, put magpul rifle length MOE handguards on it, and a YHM 4 slot toothy phantom flash hider I got 20 years ago. For sights I have a fixed rear sight that has a large and small ring aperture and only windage adjustment so elevation must be adjusted on the front post. Paired with a 20 round pmag it scratches the 60/70s cheap plastic gun itch pretty well but actually feels like a decent gun as opposed to some of the cheap junk that was actually around then.
ReplyDeleteOnly issue I had with the upper is the barrel extension was slightly clocked on factory install. I popped it loose with a brownells vise block and re-aligned & torqued it with a midwest industries alignment rod. It cycles much smoother after that.
Thanks for planting the bug!
Sorry (not sorry) for your fall into the Dissipator club.
DeleteI think I've only gotten one PSA upper that didn't need to have the barrel nut loosened and the front sight base cranked over against the tightening torque.
Sometimes, it happens naturally if I swap barrels between upper receivers, like Lavender Linda and Dottie.
There's pics of that bout of Manly Lego™ posted someplace here if you look.

DeleteI like the look of the carry handle upper you have on there. I was looking for a C7 upper to get both the brass deflector and the A1 style rear sight, but never found one in stock when I had the money sitting around to pick one up at the same time.
