The Army is looking to find a replacement for the venerable Chinook.
Does SIG make helicopters?
They've been trying to replace the CH-47 since I was in the Army. It never ends well.

The good mid century tech has proven to be very hard to replace. The B52 and C130 are even older than the CH-47, and have outlasted other systems. The Army still uses an updated M109 for artillery and should really have stuck with the M4A1. I guess it's a combination of program officers justifying their existence, desire for new and shiny, you don't get high paid consulting gigs with defense contractors unless you enriched those defense contractors
ReplyDeleteA friend still flies Shithooks going on 30 years. He said he got worried when his latest version wasn't leaking hydraulic fluid but new ones don't leak any more. He gets a smile every time an Apache pilot tells him to slow down so they can keep up. Chinooks will stop flying when the B-52 does.
ReplyDeletemy brother told me the new sig stuff is crap...they need to keep the old stuff...it works...unlike the new stuff they keep trying out...how long have they been trying to get rid of the A-10...they just keep making it better and better...it's a tank killing beast...panzer guy
