Which .45 ACP is better?
With the small magazines, the SIG gives up one round to the S&W.
With the large magazines, the SIG gives up two.
The S&W is 0.2 lb. lighter at 2 lb. than the 2.2 lb. SIG with the smaller mags.
They are the same 2.2 lb. when you have 10 shots in the S&W and 8 in the SIG.
The M&P 45C shoots a bit tighter and to the point of aim for me.
The P220 is definitely prettier.
For everyday carry; I'm going to keep packing the S&W.
When I get invited to a BBQ, if open carry is allowed, I'm going to show off the more expensive and attractive SIG.
Soulless plastic is objectively better.
The short answer is the .45 on your hip when you need it is the right one. If an extra 2 rounds make it "right"for you and you carry, then that's the right one. If the pretty grips make you more likely to have it on your hip, then that's the right one for you.
ReplyDeleteIf it it is the ugly as sin but the holster gun combination are comfortable as heaven so you have it on your hip, then that's the right one.
Fit me, tonight, it was a full size 1911 in an IWB with two spare mags on the other hip.
Pretty grips and all. It would have been the commander but I don't have an IWB that fits the Kimber. (That I like)

DeleteThe .45 M&P will be in a shoulder holster when weather permits, but the Shield Plus will still be in my pocket.
The SIG might be on the hip, or that might be the .38 Super Gov't Model... if Florida ever gets open carry.
