L->R: S&W M&P 45C, SIG-Sauer P220, Ithaca M1911A1.
The M1911A1 is obviously best because lanyard.
That's something that actually shows in the GURPS stats too!
The 1911 and P220 do the same 2d pi+ at 150/1,600 but the P220 gets 8+1 shots and is 2.2 lb. compared to 7+1 shots and 2.8 lb.
The 45C only does 2d-1 pi+ to the same ranges but it gets 10+1 shots for 2.2 lb.
Average damage, with hollow-points, for a full mag are very close. 84 for the M1911A1, 96 for the P220 and 100 for the M&P 45C.
Not much to distinguish them from each other, really.
If the campaign is set before the early-eighties then only the M1911A1 will be available. If it's before 2012 then you're choosing between the Ithaca and SIG.
Consult with your GM before purchasing!
Never fired the M&P, but I prefer the P220 over the 1911. Lighter, more reliable, and I like DA/SA. The P220 I had, I bought in 1976 or 77. It was called the Browning BDA and it had the European "heel" magazine release. It also had a lanyard loop, so your 1911 "advantage" is negated right there. (Sorry, JMB, but time and technology wait for no man.)
ReplyDeletei like them all but i'll still take my g21 over all of them...13+1...panzer guy...
ReplyDeleteSame damage and range as the 1911 and P200, more shots, heavier at 2.4 lb. HAS LANYARD LOOP!
DeleteMagazines are heavier too, and that limits things a bit, though you do get 156 points on average with hollow-points per magazine.
i went from a ruger p-85, to a browning hi power, to a sig, to a glock...i shoot much better with a glock...it's easier to break down and clean...most of the parts are cheap to replace...and other than the newer gen 5's, a lot of the other gens, same caliber of course, a lot of the parts are interchangeable...it's what i'm used to now so yes, i prefer them over others...it def ain't lite...panzer guy...
ReplyDeleteI, too, own a Glock 21. I bought the very first one I ever saw and have managed to hold onto it these past 30 years.
DeleteIt's chunky, but I shoot it well. What I can't do is carry it without everyone knowing it. I tried right after I first got my permit saw the printing in every reflective surface I looked at myself in (while gavotting of course).
So, you had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte? You're so vain.
DeleteThe big-frame Glocks (20 and 21) are just a little too big around the grip for me to feel comfortable handling. That's why I prefer single-stack .45s. Maybe someday, when I grow up, I'll be able to handle a .45 or 10 mm Glock, right? I can only hope.
i shot the baby 10 glock...holy shit, like shooting a cannon...i put the fat grip on my 17 with the longer "dove" tail on it...it fits better, you get that natural high grip you should have...it actually feels really good...i do find a tad more difficult to reach the mag release now...i may need to put the thinner grip on...first time i've used them...i have a 43x i can carry concealed but i'm so used to carrying off body it's hard to the hang of and in tx is always so damn hot and humid...panzer guy...
