When I was in the Army there was a rule about using the heavier guns on people.
The .50 was for equipment. Not personnel. We joked that a belt buckle or uniform was "equipment".
There's a lot of TADS footage from Apaches using their gun on people. That's a 30mm; more than double the bore size of the .50 I was told was too heavy for troops. And the 30mm is HE not just a slug like Mother Duece fires.
Since this TADS footage would have to be cleared for distribution, I assume the rules are changed enough to allow the heavier guns on troops.
Like they weren't going to be used like that back in 1988...
