In Accordance With Departmental Guidelines?

These four officers are fucking heroes.  No doubt about it.

Unloading on an autistic kid with a knife while on the other side of a barrier.

I, for one, am ecstatic that they all got to go home safe.

Because that's what's important.

That cops are safe.

That's all that matters.

The above is sarcasm, just in case you can't parse it.

I'm utterly fed up with cops being held to a lower standard than the general populace.

There was very little that autistic person could have done with that knife from the other side of the fence.  That means there was no imminent danger to the four officers.

The autistic person was also, apparently, contained in their own yard, so no imminent threat to the public.

What, most likely, happened here was Karen got mad at the kid, dialed 911 and started filming.

Except for The Boy having a knife or getting shot, we've been here and done that a lot.

The main difference is our sheriff isn't in the habit of hiring and covering for cowards.

The Boy, in fact, was a driving force in the local department changing training and guidelines for dealing with the mentally challenged!  Some of my legal drama contributed, in fact.

In Point Of Fact

No, you did not "do it in a small town."

You did it in your normal habitat, a large, Democrat controlled, city.

Chicago is hardly a small town.

Not Misgendering

Once a scumbag decides to murder children it no longer gets the courtesy of being personed.

It doesn't have a gender because it is a thing.

Things don't have genders or pronouns.

Yes, I do this to insult the worthless scum who murdered six innocents.

I hope they are insulted as they writhe in the torments of whatever afterlife they find themselves in.

MYOB

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"

Often attributed to Edmund Burke.

I will not stand by, doing nothing, while evil is being done when it's within my power to hinder it, even slightly.

911 is the least I can do.

The irony is, if it is found to be a forcible felony (domestic abuse is) then shooting his ass dead would be perfectly legal in Florida.

A difficult legal slog in court, but the black letter law appears clear.

This is strongly related to "the good guys don't hide" which is why I am having these chats with y'all.

To do nothing when you can stop evil with almost no effort, is a form of cowardice if you ask me.

I'm not a coward, I've been tested.
I know that I passed.
Look at the tested, and think there but for the grace go Ye.
Not a coward, I went and found out.

Knock on wood.

You're Sure Going To Show...

Whom are you going to show by not reporting for duty, Officer?

You're going to not go to work and show us how crime shoots through the roof while you're gone?

While that may, indeed, happen: that's not my take-away.

"Employee was a no show." means you-are-fucking-fired in every real-world job.

Something we keep complaining about is a general attitude from The-Thin-Blue-Lives-Matter crowd is you can do anything you want without repercussions.

I do notice a high-pitched whine, resembling that of a kindergarten playground, whenever anyone suggests removing immunity from such repercussions.

Qualified immunity is barely older than I am, dating from a court decision in 1967.

You act as if there's no possible way you can enforce the laws or keep the peace without such immunity.  How, pray tell, did law get enforced from 1788 to 1966?

I note, from looking up gun statistics, that crime was also generally lower for the first 178 years of America than the last 53.

So, being accountable for their actions didn't make cops worse at their jobs.

Your contracts and unions keep you from being terminated for this blue flue bullshit, but what you're really teaching us is we really don't need you when push comes to shove.

Think about it really hard.  A riotous looter in suburbia is not a neighbor, or a local, so nobody is going to give a fuck if said looter grows large holes in them.

Dead criminals have a 0.000% recidivism rate.

The right to defend self, hearth and property has been too long subverted by the forces who're supposed to be defending us from the lawless.

These rights were delegated, not abdicated, to professional law enforcement.

What you have been doing lately is telling us we need to recall our delegation and force you to seek honest work outside government.

Your constant resistance to reasonable reform tells us all we need to know about "good" cops.

When you leave us to hang out to dry, we don't give a fuck if you come home alive at the end of your shift.

Dante reserved the lowest ring of Hell for those who betrayed the public trust.  That's where you're headed.

Wait There's A Poem About This

LA is going to divert police funding to people of color.

Kipling wrote about this!

It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say: –
"We invaded you last night – we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away."

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld
And then you'll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: –
"Though we know we should defeat you,
we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away."

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we've proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: --

"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!"

Dereliction Of Sworn Duty

I am watching video after video of the riots and looting in three cities.

I am not seeing the cops engaging the lawless.

I am reading about the military activating MP units to step in and considerations for martial law.

So, Officer, you sure enjoyed the title of "hero"...  Time to do something heroic.

Get your ass between the citizens you're sworn to defend and those who seek to destroy them.

That is heroism.

Your safety is not, and never has been, paramount.

Getting your ass killed trying to save those who cannot save themselves is part of the duty.

It always has been.

Hiding from the lawless and waiting for the Army is the act of a coward, not a hero.

If you think I'm treating you unfairly, you'd better have a selfie of you manning the barricades and actually protecting someone besides yourself.

It's especially galling that there's lots of officers in many departments that do embody the selfless ideals and would stand between crime's desolation and the citizens they've sworn to protect.

Officers who take their oath seriously.

Your cowardly behavior dishonors those who are doing it right.

The Missus Doesn't Like It

Harry, when your wife makes you change everything about yourself to keep her, you should let her go.

There's a word that I think you might want to get familiar with as you cave to every demand:

Cuckold.

Google it, Harry.

A man who changes everything about himself for a woman who was supposedly attracted to the man before they married seldom keeps her interest for long past the changes and that normally leads to infidelity.

There's a technical, and very offensive, term for a woman who selects a man with the idea of changing everything about them.  The polite version is harridan.  The rude version shares 75% of the letters with aunt.

Guns Guns Mutter Mutter

The shrieking housefrau of the "gun rights" movement are having the vapors about open carrying again.

The entire idea that someone is free to do something they don't like or something they like in a manner they dislike absolutely terrifies them.

I'll say it.

They're cowards.

They see their shadows and dive back into their groundhog-like lairs to berate those who're far better adjusted to the outside world.

While open carrying when and where it's legal might not be bravery, per se, it's certainly not cowardice.

Unlike the cowards, they're making a visible stand.

I don't know how to say it more clearly, they're doing something we all have the right to do (even if our rights are infringed where we live at the moment).  They're doing it in accordance with the laws of where they're doing it.  They're not hurting anyone.

The gigantic raft of bills sitting Tallahassee, save one, has nothing to do with open carry.

NOTHING.

There is no relationship whatsoever between open carrying and additional anti-gun laws being passed.

Sure, there's the potential.  But its a potential that has not yet been realized at any capitol building.  So consistently so, we should stop worrying about it and stop paying heed to those who are panicking about it.

Penacola Shooter Was An Unmanly Pussy

Trusting Google Translate to express it in terms that his fellow savages can understand:

كانت العضوة المهزلة التي قتلت ثلاثة أبطال في بينساكولا ، رغم خبأتها الإباحية ، كل امرأة.

It would have been far better for her family to have raised a man instead of sending their daughter to train in America for a job beneath her.

I think it should be up to The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to prove they've got both balls and honor before anything lacking US markings flies there again.

Your pilot murdered three of ours?  Durandal all the runways.

Saying What I've Said Before Again

All you have to do is search for the term "victim" and you can find how I feel about blaming the victim.

I literally said it years ago.  Not that anyone read it...

But there's something about blaming the victim that doesn't often come up any more.

Have you ever looked at the FBI stats for rape and compared them to a change in how the police and courts handled the victims?

When we started applying the philosophy that the rapist was the one responsible for the rape, irregardless of the sexual history of the victim or their manner of dress...

More rapists went to jail.  Fewer rapes occur.

Blaming the victim for their portion of the victim selection process absolves the criminal of their crime.

This absolution leads to less stringent investigations and fewer convictions.

It's easy to blame the victim.  It's also lazy.

Blaming the victim is also morally reprehensible.

The immoral like to talk big and cluck at how stupid the victims are, but they're really enabling the criminal and providing cover for their actions.  After all, the immoral aren't blaming them for their crimes...

The criminal is responsible for their crime.  That the victim made it easy is irrelevant.

Focusing on irrelevancies is a good sign that someone has no point to make and no moral ground to stand on.

Can We Get A Genpop Sentence For Him

Scot Peterson arrested!

Peterson on Tuesday was arrested for neglect of duty, Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony announced.

I hope he's convicted, I hope he gets the max sentence, I hope it's general population.

He's had more than a year to exercise the honorable option.

I Wonder If He Still Reads Here

Former friend Anglave became a former friend because he'd become someone who argued relentlessly in bad faith.

The specific conversation was about global warming, but it'd been long in coming.

This article reminds me so much of how he argued.

Particularly:

This concept ties into Artificial Intelligence efforts, which have yet to deal with a very specific problem. Software may be written that is very dynamic, that can learn. You can show the software, for instance, 5,000 pictures of deciduous trees, and eventually it learns (to a reasonable level of accuracy) that which is probably a tree. But then you show it a coniferous tree, and it will not recognize it as also being a tree. Now you must show thousands of additional pictures, and tell it these are all trees. Yet, show a toddler who can barely talk a picture of one tree, and he can usually make the intellectual leap. He grasps quickly the essence of what tree is.

The AI lacks the ability to extrapolate the essence of a thing. It’s a serious challenge in software development. Leftists pretend to lack this ability in order to score points. They want you to show them 5,000 Burger King hamburgers before admitting that this is fundamentally an American food. So I am withdrawing even the charity of suggesting they are stupid. They aren’t. Toddlers can do this, and they can’t? Give me a break. They know full well what they are doing. They are pretending to the stupidity if called out on their lies.
It's not just you have to prove it's a tree to a ridiculous standard, it's that you have to prove it's a tree over and over and over.  Having to start from scratch from base principles every time any one of several topics comes up, and there's no avoiding those topics because they can't wait to bring them up.

Another irritant is the claim that they don't know much about a given topic, but sure do have copious links at hand to smother any statement you have to make on it.

More than once I took the time to read all of those links and the sub-links and found that despite the wide "consensus" they all, ultimately, led to a single source for their conclusion.

A source got presented as being multiple sources because many news outlets repeated it.

I am well rid of "friends" like that.

PS: He's also the first person of my acquaintance who gave me a lecture on why I shouldn't be offended when they were being offensive and refused to apologize for it.  Sadly, not the last.

Criminal Negligence

I just got done reading this.

Scot Peterson's lack of action is nearly to accomplice after the fact.

Sgt. Richard Rossman sitting on the fact that there was a tape delay to the video feed...  Why would you do that unless you were helping the shooter to evade?

I am beside myself here.

More On Duty

It's a military perspective.

A matter of honor.

You take the oath and you serve.

That service could lead to you being sacrificed for your nation.

They don't state it directly, and they dance around it some, but it's the elephant in the room when you start in Basic.

You learn what your duty is and are expected to perform it.

If you fail to do so, it had better not be a willful refusal.  There have been soldiers hanged for shirking their duty.

So we hold in contempt any cop who shirks their duty to defend their community and then hides behind "there's no law that forces me to do it."

Fuck you Pig!

While there was no law forcing you to do it or legal consequences for failing, where is your honor?

Wait.  I know this one.  You don't have any.

I'm sick of these cases.

I'm composing a proposal for my congress creatures that will put the power of law behind such failures to perform their honorable duty.  To expressly create the relationship that doesn't exist by default according to The US Supreme Court.

"By taking this oath you agree..." to be held responsible for your failure to act.  I'm OK with the gallows for a coward who hides while children are being gunned down.  At the very least the refusal to act on the grounds of mere personal safety be grounds to lose their cushy pension.

Especially since, on the basis of the description of the coward's job at the school, it is reasonable for the community to have expected action from the coward, his supervisor and the rest of the department.  Action to protect their children rather than their own cowardly lives.

“A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.”

I hope this coward is tormented in his every waking moment.

So A Repeal Of 7026 And An Apology Is Coming?

Cops and Schools dropped the ball.

A large group of people don't seem to be mentioned as contributing to the shooting.

That'd be gun owners aged 18-20.

Also not mentioned are the owners of bump-stocks.

I think gun owners can be magnanimous enough to not demand an apology if we get a repeal.

23 February 2018

Heroism Revisited

It's been mentioned to me that the police are under no obligation to protect any of us.

That is correct.

Standing behind that isn't courage or heroism.

We heap more honor on the hero who doesn't have to do it.  The person who could have walked away in perfect safety; but instead charged into danger to save lives.

Contrast our Broward County SRO with the disarmed by law coach Aaron Feis.

He did not hesitate to protect his charges, even though it cost him his life.

A teacher.  Someone we don't expect to show such courage or expect to perform such an act.

There's the bar.  Yes, it's set very high, Officer, Deputy, Trooper, but you get to bring your guns.

But He Made It Home Safe

Deputy at the school shooting didn't do his job.

I'll keep repeating this:  If you want the respect of heroes you have to do heroic deeds.

That means running towards the sound of gunfire.  Even though you might get shot yourself.

It means getting between the danger and those you're supposed to be protecting.  Even though you might get shot yourself.

It means taking a moment to sort out the good guys from the bad guys, so you don't shoot the wrong person.  Even though you might get shot yourself.

It means doing something immediately to save lives other than your own by following procedures that exist only to sanctify institutional cowardice.

The only way to be a hero is to be heroic.

21 February 2018

Appearance Of Safety

At first nod, the idea of banning guns from a place seems to make sense.

No guns, no shooting.  No shooting, nobody can get shot!

But then you look at it harder in application.

Other than a sign, what's keeping the guns out of most of these zones?

When I go to the courthouse, there's armed deputies and a metal detector.  And a long tedious line.

When I go to a school, there's nothing actually stopping a person with a gun, or anyone checking for them.

What happens when a shooter ignores the sign?

People get shot, but there's something else.

The police show up and then will do nothing to stop the shooter for an extended time, if they do anything at all.

The vast majority of these mass shootings end with the shooter deciding they'd done enough; not with the police actually stopping them.

But don't worry, the police officers are very safe in their cordon.  They're all going to make it home.

Armed spectators they are, in the name of officer safety and procedures.
