Giving Thanks

I am thankful for so many things that I cannot make a list.

A list would imply an order to how thankful I am, and that's not how I feel about these things.

I'm going to go eat until I can't move, see you tomorrow!

SIG Replies

My P320 (THANKS Willard) was made on October 9th, 2019.

The box label would have said, "L320CA-9-BXR3-PRO: P320, 9MM, 3.9IN, PROFESSIONAL, BLK, STRIKER, X-RAY 3, MOD POLY X GRIP, (3) 17RD STEEL MAG, OPTIC READY, RAIL".

I think that Wilson Combat is going to get the nod for grip module once I wade through all the options.

The tan Carry II module sets the dust cover a little back from the end of the slide and Harvey and I kinda like the look of it.

Thanks!

While 2022 has been a shit show in a lot of ways...

I am alive.  After ramming that tree in The Precious there was some realization that it could have gone the other way.

The Lovely Harvey is making excellent progress recovering from breaking her shoulder.

We were missed by Ian.

There's a roof over my head and food in the pantry.

I have the best friends.  That cannot be overstated.

Happy Good Commie Day!

Today is Dead Che Day!

55 years ago, Bolivia showed us how it's done.

Treat your favorite commie to a ride with Pinochet Helicopter Services!

Qualified Professional

Apparently I am a "qualified professional" at Bud's Gunshop!

That makes me feel important!

Some of the discounts are pretty good too.

It's the same generosity that gets me 20% off my beer tomorrow at the local brewery, they call it "Heroes Night".  This includes first responders too.

Glock does it by letting me pay the blue label price at authorized dealers.

This DD214 is sure handy!

Thanksgiving

The list of things I am thankful for is too long to even start breaking it down, but most important is friends.

I have been blessed with some of the best friends a person could hope for.

Victory!

The new AC is already having a positive effect on the electric bill!

April's bill was $223.

May's is $161.

This is significant because we've had the thermostat at 74˚ instead of 76˚ and it's been hotter outside.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to restoring life-support to Casa de McThag!

Chillin'

Thanks to the contributions of generous readers, like you, the air conditioning is replaced and life support restored to the domicile.

We really appreciate you!

Worse Than Hoped

Better than feared.

New compressor and air handler, installed: $4,000.

Going from 2 ton to 2.5 ton; 12 SEER to 14 SEER.

They show up tomorrow to do the work.

Eyes crossed.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the fund.

Donations will now shift to buying name-brand ramen for Starving Thag.

THANKS!

We're not all the way there yet, but THANKS! To those who've contributed to getting the HVAC under control here at Casa McThag.

Also thanks to LEBill49901 of Idaho who donated a Cold Steel 1860 Saber to my cause!

I am continuously humbled by your generosity when things get upside down here.

It's still OK to hit the donate button!

Thank You

I want to take a moment to thank the American tax payer and voter for the, thus far, adequate care I've been getting from the VA.

I know there's some who'd say I'd earned it, but it seems wrong to not thank the folks who're making it possible.

So, THANK YOU, American Tax Payers!

Lovely Harveys Most Affected

The Boy has been insisting on rides around the neighborhood with his new bike.

The Lovely Harvey rides alongside as a safety observer.

She has discovered, to her dismay, that the new bike is MUCH faster and The Boy does not have a throttle, he's got an off/on switch.

The three mile meandering course throughout the area is hitting her hard.

The exercise is prolly good for her.

Unexpected Package

The Boy's new bike will have new high-visibility features in the form of a light and a flag.

They arrived from Amazon this afternoon, much to everyone's surprise.

Thanks Miguel!

Ending In Smiles

Some assembly required, with Godless Metric tools!

Thankfully I have a metric Crescent® wrench!

This...

Became this...

In relatively short order.  There was a bit of a frustration where the aft two holes for the frame join were needed and the rear brake drum assembly needed to be removed to move the bolts into those holes.  Then it was a fiddly, frustrating event to get that brake back on and functional.

But The Boy is VERY happy with his new wheels!

You can see how much smaller the old bike was and how much faster this new one will be!

He took it down the block and back with us being road-guides and it's definitely giving him more distance per pedal stroke.  He didn't want to stop riding, but it was too dark for laps of the neighborhood.

Again, THANKS! to Damocles and Alpha for their generous contributions to this happy event!

Box O Bike

Got me a box-o-bike here in the dining room!

Thanks Damocles!

Prolly going to have to dig out the Godless metric tools again because it's a "Made in China, Assembled en de Los ¡Estados Unidos!" situation.

I think I will wait for the most oppressive of the day's heat to fade a bit before tackling this.

I also think I will phone a friend because this looks to be an awkward one-person and a fun two-person job.

21 May 2019

Double Gift

The trailer hitch rack arrived today (THANKS! Alpha)!

It is "some assembly required" which means I get to play with my tools!

WOO HOO!

19 May 2019

Also Thanks To Damocles

Rather than dangling a sword by a hair, he's getting the bike for The Boy in lieu of "another 1911".

Damn!

Again, I am just overwhelmed by the support you people (what did he mean "you people"?) have shown and continue to show The Boy!

18 May 2019

Rack Ordered

Thanks to Alpha!

The rack to haul the trike is ordered!

I'm still constantly overwhelmed by the kindness of my readers who drop some of their hard earned money to help out me and my family!

If you're ever in Tampa, beer's on me!

¡Viva Bolivia!

Today Che Guevarra became a good Communist.

Happy Dead Che Day!

Truly Humbling

My life hit a crisis and I am humbled and honored by all of the people who don't know who I am, past this blog, who came from all corners to offer material assistance by stabbing that donation button to the right.  A week ago we were asking ourselves how we would ever get these "bonus" bills paid.  Now we're within spitting distance of being all the way covered.

Likewise I count myself blessed that I have the cadre of close friends that I do.

Without all of you, I'd probably crawled into someplace dark and not emerge again.

I give my heartfelt thanks to all of you!
