Years ago I commented that I support the end of the Islamic theocracy in Iran.
I still hope the people of Iran manage it.
They appear to be trying to do it again.
On the plus side the IRGC doesn't seem to doing its normal murder lots of people to suppress protests thing.
It probably helps that it's not Obama in office this time around.
Best of luck to the people of Iran!
I have two wishes or self executing goals for all Iranians and have had the privilege of knowing a few prior to the fall of the Shah (spit on effin Jimmy Carter).
ReplyDeleteFirst, that they toss out the entire mullhocracy and second, they return to being Persians, they are not and never were Moslem, that was imposed by force as it has ever been everywhere occupied.
Is there a place for a Pahlavi? Maybe, as a stabilizing factor, but at the end of the day the people have to control their destiny. Sadly history points to warring tribes within the national boundaries, but of all the ME, they are perhaps the most homogeneous and largely Persian. The Kurds will have to control their impulses too, they could benefit enormously from a stable Iran.
