It seems that all that gun control they have up in The Great White North didn't keep someone from shooting up a school and murdering a bunch of people.
And here I thought that just happened in places with lots of guns, like Florida and Texas.
And another shooter who's trans.
Ugh.
Though I am tempted to dust off the old textbooks and see what they say about gender dysphoria and compare it to the "standards" of care today.
I'm going to go out on a limb that looks pretty damn strong and speculate that we're not seeing any genuine cases of dysphoria but we're seeing a the results of brains broken by being convinced they do have a malady that needs to be "treated."
Almost as if emotions took over for science.
That NEVER happens... Oh, wait.
Well, not that often... Dammit!
Maybe some science will return to things like medicine.
I have said before, and I reiterate, that we do not have a sudden upsurge of gender dysphoria. What we have is a bunch of very troubled, very suggestible people who've fallen into the hands of quack "therapists" who're on the latest fashionable bandwagon. Back in the Nineties, it was "recovered memories"---always of having been molested, surprise surprise. Before that, it was "satanic child abuse."
ReplyDeleteIf the gay community were smarter, they'd take the wins they have and go home, instead of picking this as the latest hill they're apparently willing to stand and die on. I'm not wild about regular homosexuality, but I accept that it's something people apparently can't help. This nonsense, OTOH, is very likely to provoke a backlash that'll sweep away a lot of the gains the gays have made in my lifetime.
When this fashion finally fizzles out, I predict some absolutely resounding lawsuits, mainly against therapists, but possibly against surgeons who performed "gender reassignment" surgery. Particularly on minors. I've been horrified to read about these operations being performed on people too young to get tattoos or buy a beer. My own take is that "a trans kid is like a vegan cat---you know who made the decision." In some trendy circles, pretending to be "trans" or saying that one's child is "trans" is very fashionable. It gets one instant victimhood points, which are valuable social currency these days.
One day I think they'll look at "gender reassignment" surgery the way we now do at lobotomies.
There's already been one successful civil lawsuit against the transitioners. Which caused many new filings for future court cases.
