6.8 SPC vs .300 AAC Blackout

A guy and his dad were sighting in their rifles...

100 yards, 3/8" mild steel.


Same bullet weight, 115gr.  The penetrations are from 6.8, the dents are .300BLK.

    (Although, given the difference in velocity, I'm not terribly surprised if so.)

  3. Just thinking (and maybe not correctly) that a lead-cored HP or SP might not be as "barrier-blind" as a solid copper Barnes-X-type...

  4. Sounds reasonable. Copper is a lot harder than lead. The slightly smaller frontal area of the 6.8 helped too, I am sure.
