I actually think they look pretty cool with all the camo and the crowned barrel.
ReplyDeleteA fairly left-wing relative of mine and a metro-con right-wing relative were talking guns. Of course the Metro was kinda uneasy about the whole gun thing. The Lefty guy is a West Point grad, pointed out that if he was going to buy a hunting gun, he would buy an AR because he carried an M16 in the various shitholes of the world, and he was most comfortable with that platform over any other platform.
I'm sure with the huge number of new vets we have who are getting on with their post military career are thinking the same way when it comes to getting a first gun.
BTW my Buddy's grand-ma used to knock down bambis in the back-woods of Maine with a Garand using 5-round en-bloc clips to comply with the arbitrary hunting laws.
To my horror my second 6.8 carbine is just barely covered by the AWB. Threaded muzzle and pistol grip. No collapsing stock, bayonet lug, shoulder thing that goes up (and/or barrel shroud)...
ReplyDeleteThe flash-hider is sized identically to an M16A2, so I could launch rifle grenades if someone made bullet-trap models for 6.8 or if I could find launching blanks.
I feel dirty having made it, and even more so that it's become just about my favorite AR.
"Fudd?"
ReplyDeleteWhat means that word?
Fudd, as in Elmer. Derogatory term slung at people who are gun owners because they hunt and care nothing about anything but "their" gun.
ReplyDeleteUrban Dictionary Definition #1:
Slang term for a "casual" gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment. These people also generally treat owners/users of so called "non sporting" firearms like handguns or semiautomatic rifles with unwarranted scorn or contempt.
"See sonny, all those pistols in that cabinet... all thems is good for is killin people." -Example of ignorant comment from a fudd at a local gun shop. See also: Zumbo.
