Why does everyone make a Glock 19 sized gun when there's already a Glock 19?
Because they want you to buy their gun instead of giving Glock the money, DUH!
And that's really the long and short of it.
It's always interesting watching the marketing people and the gun-writers (did I repeat myself?) jumping through hoops trying to differentiate between the choices and why they exist when it really boils down to the first guy nailing the market niche and everyone else trying to worm their way into it and get some market share.
I'll buy any firearm that is not a Glock. They suck.
ReplyDeleteI do wish my 19 had a safety like the smith
ReplyDeleteOver 2 million Glock 19's sold. I wish I made something that sucked that bad.
ReplyDeleteBefore the SIG 320 the S&W M&P series was the second best selling striker fired polymer pistol after Glock. While their trigger feel is subject to criticism, the factory sights are good, the grip is more comfortable, and you don't need to pull the trigger to field strip them.
ReplyDeleteAs a bonus neither Glock nor S&W have anywhere near SIG's ND problems
Even here in gun un-friendly Oz, I own a couple of Glocks - they're ubiquitous.
ReplyDeleteThe differences are legal:
1) barrel length must be greater than 125mm, so the 19 is completely out
2) magazine capacity was limited to 10 rounds, although the new laws in West Oz, say "... a semi-automatic firearm must not be capable of firing more than 10 rounds". That sounds like NINE round magazines to me.
It DOESN'T say "before reloading", so I guess I can only fire ten rounds, then the gun is broken/worn out, and I have to throw it away.
I have a 34 & a 35 (that meet condition 1), and to be honest I prefer the grip angle of the 1911-style pistols, but that might just be due to decades of practice with them before I acquired the Glocks.
