Peaked

So far, the vast majority of the people I've known who've managed to attain the rank of Eagle Scout have failed to do much else with their lives.

It's a small pool, but strangely consistent.

  1. Mike Rowe, whom you know of but do not know, is an Eagle Scout.

So are a lot of aviators and good military officers.

    2. Well, yeah. Statistically not every ES is gonna succeed.

On the other hand, did being an ES prepare them for their average lives? Did it give them skills to cope with, well, you? And other people? If they're lost in the woods do they still have a chance of survival or will they die without their morning avocado toast?

There's different levels of success here. Did ES make them wildly successful and prepare them for a life of uber achievement? Well, that's good. Did ES give them the ability to survive the day-to-day BS of the world and give them a leg up on the ability to do things? That's even better.
