Today, in 1987, I reported to the MEPS station in West Des Moines to begin my adventure in the US Army!
At least that's what the DD214 says, I remember it being the 9th.
It did not start well, I have a congenital shoulder problem that makes it hard for me to do push-ups and I ended up spending a couple of months in a Fitness Training Unit before heading to OSUT.
In essence, it takes about twice the effort for me to do a push up than you'd think it should.
