Marv and I were watching the film All Is Lost.
We both comment that we'd like to learn how to use a sextant, because you never know when you can't use GPS for navigation.
Marv says, "first you need a good clock."
I reply, "The GPS app on my phone is an EXCELLENT clock!"
He just shakes his head sadly.
Did I say something wrong?

You don't use a clock with a sextant. A sextant does latitude (distance from equator). The clock is for longitude
ReplyDeleteI think the point is you need both to figure out where you are.
