Under Pressure

On the left, a .30-06 case fired from Blanche the hundred dollar Mauser.

On the right, a .30-06 case fired from Trudy the turdy aught six Winchester.

Same lot of ammunition.

Notice the primer is a bit flatter on Blanche's brass?  I am not sure if this is something to be worried about or not.

  1. I'd say you'll want to check your head spacing. Looks like you might be battering the case head against the bolt face.

  2. Agree with ES, that is an awfully deep strike on that primer on the left.

    1. I'll dig up some headspace gauges for .30-06 to be sure.

The primer dent looks like every surplus Mauser I've ever owned so I thought nothing of it.

Blanche is made from a surplus Mauser originally by Golden State Arms way back in the late '60's. I guess the good news is that it's survived this long without blowing up.
