They've Set A Price

SNT Motiv says that their Daewoo K2 clone will ship in Q3 2026 and be MSRP of $1,799.

About $600 more than they'd hoped, but $700 less than many predicted!

I have car shit to take care of, but lots of time...

  2. An AUG would probably be more affordable, if I wanted something different than an AR.

    It's good to have options.

    1. An AUG is not out of the question for something different.

The Daewoo is on my list because I used to have a DR200 when I got away from the Mini-14. Nostalgia speaks to getting the K2 where it doesn't for the AUG.

My only hands-on experience with a bullpup was a Bushmaster M17S, and it wasn't a favorable experience. Except for being a bullpup and in 5.56, it's got nothing in common with an AUG, I don't wish to slander Austria's other plastic pal who's fun to be with.

    2. For the record, street price of an AUG from Bud's Gun Shop is $1,901.99. MSRP is $2,599.

And I'd have to stock another magazine! $28 each isn't too bad.

    3. But the catch is you'd have to deal with Bud's. With used guns anyway, I've learned the hard way not to trust Bud's product descriptions or to expect any kind of customer service for blatantly "erroneous" ads.

    4. I've made exactly one purchase from Bud's and it's about my favorite 9mm; the M&P 2.0 Compact.

It was a new gun and and the description was copypasta of S&W ad copy.

      The transaction went smoothly.

But I was just using them as an example of a street price on the AUG, not really trying to recommend them.

  3. This is just an ar clone, right? What am I missing here?

    1. The K2 isn't an AR clone. It uses a gas and recoil system that's more like an AK. The bolt and fire-control are AR derived. IIRC it started when Colt decided to not renew Daewoo's manufacturing license for the M16A1. Korea asked, "what would it take to put a folding stock on an M16?" and the project becomes the K2.

The K1 used the Stoner gas system, the K2 didn't.
