Wireless Charging

The new phone, like the old phone, can charge from a little round plate that I set it on.

Except for the metal plate I put in my case to mount it to the dash of my car via magnets.

Sigh.

It's neat technology, but practical considerations prevent me from taking advantage of it.

I don't care for the extra stress taking it out of the case all the time would impose too.

Administrative handling is good for creating accidents in phones as well as guns!

  2. I've got a few of those Qi charging "pucks". With the older phones that used Micro USB it was a good idea to charge that way and reduce the number of insertions on the USB port because they tended to fail. USB C seems to be a lot more durable. A lot of phones won't charge wirelessly reliably through a case oe ir sometimes reduced the charging speed. I have seen people get around that by cutting a circular hole in the back of the case so the charger puck drectly contacts the back of the phone. That doesn't seem to compromise the protection of the case nearly as much as it might seem because that area is rarely a place where the phone gets damaged anyway. I'm surprised that the case makers haven't made a case with a latched door on the back for charging like some have to protect the cameras. The case I have on my S25 Ultra has a little sliding shutter that can cover the camera lenses which is nice because it keeps them from getting dirty or scratched.
