A Hard Look

Look hard at what...

Walter Mondale was doing in 1976-1980.
George Bush was doing in 1980-1988.
Dan Quayle from 1988-1992.
Al Gore from 1992-2000.
Dick Cheny from 2000-2008.
and
Joe Bidel from 2008-present...

Being VP means you don't do much, don't it.

It makes me wonder why all the focused venom on Sarah Palin.

McCain would have been actually DOING things, not her.

I just don't get it.

  1. I'd say, myself, that a lot of the Palin-hatred was because the mainstream(ed) media was absolutely over-the-moon in love with Obama, or at least the idea of him. He was everything they, and other Democrats, love in a Presidential candiate...young, articulate (at least with a TelePrompTer), and reasonably "Kennedyesque." To top it off, he was black. Gaffes and stuff in his background that would have sunk a white candidate, even a Democrat, were ignored by the media---nobody, particularly in a time when jobs for journalists are scarce, wanted to be known in the industry as the guy who sank this young, "articulate, Kennedyesque" black candidate. Someone who had that happen would be lucky to get a job as a want-ads editor on the Nome, Alaska Weekly.

At first, it looked like whoever the Dems nominated would likely win---even the Sea Hag herself. But the Sea Hag got cocky and overconfident, and a lot of Dems did remember the past, so when Obama came along, they latched onto him with loud hosannas of "Hail, the Messiah!" The Repubs' candidate was fairly lackluster, so they looked like winners---and then along came Sarah, which was one thing they hadn't counted on. They (the media, who are 95% or better Dems, and the Dems themselves) were literally terrified that Palin would attract enough women voters to snatch what they saw as their rightful prize away.

I will say that, in some ways, Palin wasn't quite ready for prime time...but the way the news media set at her disgusted me.

  2. Another important effect is that the left is far more Marxist than they admit, even to themselves. In particular, lefties bellyfeel Class Struggle. The Class Enemy is white, straight, Christian men (and you know how them people lie, so insufficient hostility to Christianity means you're dealing with a marrano), so everybody else belongs to them. Sarah Palin actively works against The Proletariat, despite being part of it; this makes her a Class Traitor.

Just imagine The Class Enemy as black, The Proletariat as white, and the left as the Ku Klux Klan. They're a lot less surprising that way.

  3. 1) If there's anybody the media hates more than someone who has public appeal without first being anointed by the Gods of Midtown, I don't know who it is.

    2) The Republicans have declared war on women!
